This is not yo mama’s Bible study class!Jesus and a cup of inspiration is a Bible Reflection Series, meaning you will have to do the work! If the possibility to be curious and to think for yourself doesn’t scare you away, then you are in the right place!
We believe God’s Word is living and active every nano second of the day and night. What we knew a few short years ago, about a particular scripture is nothing compared to the deeper more meaningful understanding we have today. We expect that to become even deeper in the months and years ahead. For that reason, we do not want to “spoon-feed” you! We believe each person is responsible for seeking out what God has to say. As we look back, those who told us what something meant, all of a sudden didn’t matter as much because we came to our own conclusion of what it meant for us through the constant communication with Jesus, especially asking questions, pondering and meditation on the scriptures.
It’s fine to hear someone minister about the Bible, but is their understanding your understanding for your circumstance for that moment in time? It could be, or it could be over your head as well. We are all spiritually at different levels of learning, revelation, knowledge and yes, wherewithal.
What this group hopes to do is to cut down on the misunderstandings by essentially cutting out the middle man! And you say, “Hold it! If you do that, you aren’t ministering the real Word and you are cutting yourselves out, right?” To answer, it is a yes and a no. We will essentially be directors and you will be the researchers! This is how we work:
Before you join the group read this page, sign up, download and print (printing tips are below) the Jesus and a Cup of Inspiration digi-booklet (avail in the Shop). Hopefully Tuesday mornings will function similar to the following:
First, we will read a scripture. Use the Jesus and a Cup of Inspiration digi–bookletto create your notes as we go along. This booklet is to encourage you to get creative in communication with Jesus during the week. Writers write! Painters paint! Mixed media peeps, get mixed! Lol! What ever is your forte’, just create while finding a deeper meaning of the scripture. Relationship with God is the goal.
Second: We will define any words that need defining using Strongs Concordance and help put the scripture in perspective. We will not dictate to you what it means for you! When the session is over, turn on your investigative instincts and start dig away!
Third: Cheryl will go over some artsy fun!
Fourth: We will have a time via chat for you to share your thoughts about the scripture and ask questions about the artsy! We will read as many as possible.
The Fifth element is up to you: What you put in to it, is what you will get out of it. We encourage you to spend time with the Lord daily. Create notes or simply create while pondering! Schedules are busy, but if we don’t have time for the Lord, we essentially have nothing. This statement alone is worthy to ponder!
Prayer: Prayer and thanksgiving is also a part of this. Praying during the week will be just as important as pondering. Towards the end of the session, we will take will take some prayer requests and pray as a group! Where two or more are gathered, there He will be in the midst! Amen! Matthew 18:20
Also, we will try to limit the sessions to 1-1/2 hours or less. That said, if you are asking questions, we will continue to answer them, if that is what you all want to do!
God bless! Now go create some epic awesomeness! Tom & Cheryl
NOTES: You do NOT have to download the digi-booklet each week! You are free to make copies, download or whatever works best for you. We just ask that you have a fresh digi-booklet each week! It simply means you are investigating and researching on your own!
When you print your digital-booklet:
First printing: Print at least one copy of each page in the digi download.
If you plan on creating art within the booklet, we recommend you print on 110 lb paper. It will hold up to paint and glue fairly well. Grab some Gesso (clear or white) if desired. This is to prep the page, but it is not necessary.
The front cover may be printed in color or black and white. That is your call, however it is much better in color! Front and back covers only need to be printed one time.
Print as manyExtra, Extra Read All About It pages as desiredfor the week. Have a minimum of three (3) within each booklet to start each week (1 booklet per week).
Print as many envelope and card pages (last page) as needed throughout the week. Cut along the outside lines then fold on the lines provided to create the “envelope. Cut and fold the note card to place in the envelope.
Only one Communion page per month, unless you plan on having Communion more on your home through the week. We will be having communion once every 4 weeks.
We will add a video on the digi-booklet, just to get things into perspective and will add some ideas of binding the booklet.
